On September 12, 2023, Epifaniy Dumenko “accepted” the Assumption Parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Pishchane, Poltava region, into the OCU as his “stauropegia”. As the “head of the parish council” Hennadii Tertychny wrote on Facebook, Dumenko handed him the corresponding decree at his residence.
According to the report, during the meeting the head of the OCU discussed “the fight against the internal enemy of Ukraine” with Tertychny and also “thanked him and the community for the important decision” about the “transition”.
As the UOJ wrote, this “decision” was made not by the community of the Assumption Church, but by a group of visiting raiders led by Tertychny, who on September 3, 2023 broke into the temple, interrupted the service and staged a rally with voting.
The provocation was attended mainly by residents of the neighboring Kirovohrad region – employees of the private enterprise “Viktor i K” (TM “Korolivsky Smak”), whose PR director is precisely Hennadii Tertychny.
Earlier, the community of the Assumption Church declared its allegiance to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
