RF Ambassador to Vatican “sends greetings” to the Pope from Patriarch Kirill

The new Russian Ambassador to the Vatican, Ivan Soltanovsky, at a meeting with Pope Francis, conveyed greetings to him from Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, RIA Novosti reports.

The diplomat also said that the pontiff expressed hope for a new meeting with the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

“Pope Francis warmly recalled his meeting with Patriarch Kirill in Havana and expressed hope that it would not be the last time and that he would be able to see the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church again,” Soltanovsky said.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the pope assured the UGCC delegation that he was “with the Ukrainian people.”
