UOC Synod changes abbot of Bancheny Monastery

On September 25, 2023, members of the Holy Synod of the UOC made the decision to remove Metropolitan Longin from the position of abbot of the Bancheny Monastery, reports the UOC press service following the Synod meeting.
However, the UOC did not specify the reasons for the replacement or who was appointed as the new abbot of the monastery.
On July 16, 2008, the Holy Synod of the UOC approved Metropolitan Longin as the abbot of the Bancheny Monastery. He was honoured with the title of Hero of Ukraine for adopting over 400 orphans.
As reported, Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny has suffered a severe stroke.
