On October 7, 2023, in the course of the Roman Catholic Church's synod in the Vatican, hierarchs of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) held a meeting with a delegation from the Phanar, as reported on the official website of the UGCC.

The UGCC was represented by its head, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, along with his assistants, and the Phanar delegation was led by Metropolitan Job Gecha.

It is reported that the Ukrainian Greek Catholics "expressed gratitude to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his continued contact with the UGCC and his unequivocal stance on Russian aggression in Ukraine, which is based on the ideological heresy of the 'Russkiy mir' (Russian world - Trans.)."

The parties "discussed inter-church relations in Ukraine in the conditions of war."

Earlier, it was reported that Metropolitan Gecha would participate in the Synod of Catholic Bishops in the Vatican.
