Acting head of the Ministry of Culture Rostislav Karandeev in an interview with Ukrinform announced the opening of a "cultural route" of the Council of Europe, which will pass from Sophia to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Karandeev believes that the route should be promoted by Europe for the Ministry of Culture.
"Specifically, the Council of Europe through its tools – the website, presentations, route certification, etc. – will help us create a powerful promotion that will make it attractive in the eyes of the demanding European tourist,” the official believes.
According to him, "We must introduce a complex tourist product of a new level". The route should be approved and in 2024 will appear in European tourist guides "as qualitatively prepared, safe, interesting and convenient".
Karandeev also hopes to fund other activities of his structure. He believes that the facilities of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra need investment.
"You and I have walked around the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, you have seen the results of the restoration of the bell tower. But you also see and realise how much can be done here. There is a great need for restoration," Karandeev told the journalist.
As reported, the Ministry of Culture needs money for the "museumification" of UOC churches in Chernihiv.
