Politologist: Phanar will design a union option between OCU and Catholics

Political analyst Dmitriy Dzhangirov in his interview to the First Cossack youtube channel told about a possible merger of the Constantinople Patriarchate with the Roman Catholic Church, giving the example of the union between the OCU and Catholics, which, in his opinion, will begin to work after the arrival of Patriarch Bartholomew to Ukraine in August 2021.

"There is a project by August 2021 to increase tensions in the religious environment in Ukraine ... Moreover, Ukraine will be the country where a version of the union will be designed, especially since Ukraine already has the Uniates and now we are talking about a single structure ... while Filaret (head of the UOC-KP – editor’s note) feels negative about this prospect, Dumenko (head of the OCU – editor’s note) and his circle say it’ll come later, not right now, but it’s viewed as quite a working variant and a matter of time. There are no objections in principle except that the issue should be ripe.”

"There is every reason for a union project, spoken about by Phanar and the Roman Catholic Church, which absolutely amicably and simultaneouslyl supported Biden, who is in favor of gay marriage, and slapped Trump for his attitude toward refugees. They are playing politics: Francis and Bartholomew have their own parts in this game, but currently the battlefield is obviously Ukraine," Dzhangirov concluded.

As the UOJ previously reported, the UGCC cited its union to the OCU as an example of unification.
