Robert Amsterdam, a lawyer representing the UOC in the United States, claimed that Ukrainian courts exhibit bias against the UOC, leading to the accelerated forced transition of Ukrainian Orthodox Church communities to the OCU. He made these remarks in an interview with Holos Ameryky.
According to Amsterdam, the process of transferring UOC communities to the OCU is happening under duress, with masked men seizing churches and threatening and intimidating believers.
Recall that Robert Amsterdam also stated that the Ukrainian government should return to the rule of law and withdraw Bill No. 8371, which envisages banning the UOC.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) addressed the US Department of State concerning the situation with the UOC.
