MP Artem Dmytruk stated that a state attempting to wage war against the Church always loses.
On his Telegram channel, the MP commented on court decisions regarding the return of land to the UOC's cathedral in Ternopil and the Supreme Court's annulment of decisions on evicting the UOC community from the St. Nicholas Church of Kamyanets-Podilsky.
The MP reminded that to be a part of Europe, which Ukraine aspires to, "is possible only if you adhere to fundamental European principles: human rights, freedom of speech and religion, the rule of law."
According to him, "Unfortunately, in our country, these principles are violated very often, especially concerning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church."
Persecutions of bishops and priests, wild decisions by local authorities to terminate land lease agreements, illegal re-registration of churches, and much more give the impression that "some representatives of the Ukrainian political elite have decided to unleash all dogs on the UOC," writes Dmytruk.
That's why, according to him, "court decisions in favour of the UOC against this background seem like a miracle," although "in reality, there are still several important points here".
Dmytruk is convinced that "in fact, practically all decisions against the UOC are illegal", which "those who make these decisions know perfectly well".
He noted, "Today the judicial system does not function as it should." "But believe me, as soon as the situation changes and the law becomes a reality, all anti-church decisions will be annulled, and all churches and monasteries will return to the bosom of the UOC, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra," emphasized the MP.
According to him, "We have a considerable number of sensible people in our country who understand that lawlessness against the UOC is abnormal."
"History teaches us that in all cases when the state tried to wage war against the Church, it lost. Always. Because the Church is the Body of Christ, and behind it is God Himself. But, besides that, the Church is also people. And to wage war against the Church means to wage war against people," believes Artem Dmytruk.
As reported, the MP called the blockage of the UOJ unlawful.
