ROC Synod "retires" Metropolitan Leonid (Gorbachev)

The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, which was held in Moscow on 27 December 2023, decided to dismiss Metropolitan Leonid (Gorbachev) of Klin from the Yerevan see, the website of the Moscow Patriarchate reports.

"His Eminence Metropolitan Leonid of Klin to be released from the temporary administration of the Yerevan-Armenian Diocese and to be retired," the Synod's 129 journal said.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Metropolitan Leonid, "As the territory of Ukraine is liberated from the Nazi regime, it is necessary to accept the related eparchies, to consider the advisability of their separation or, conversely, unification and direct subordination to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus'."

It will be reminded that the ROC has replaced the Exarch for Africa.
