DECR MP head: Gender ideology of Europe can lead to prohibition of Bible

The Christian understanding of gender as something that is given to a person at birth and cannot be changed, contradicts the gender ideology imposed in Europe. So, it may serve as a pretext to ban the Bible, where on its very first pages it is said about the creation of a man and a woman by God. The head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (DECR MP), Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk, said this on the air of the” Church and World” program, reports the DECR Communication Service.

According to the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, many postulates that are unshakable for a religious person are now not only subject to revision but in some situations are generally banned. He mentioned, in particular, that more and more often we hear about bans on Christians under the threat of dismissal from wearing a cross, as well as about forcing people to follow the so-called gender ideology, according to which a person can choose his/her gender.

“And then you can very easily send the Bible under the ban, where on the very first pages it is said that God created a person, man and woman, in His own image,” noted Metropolitan Hilarion. “We proceed from the assumption that gender is something that is given to a person at birth, which cannot be changed. Moreover, from a purely biological point of view, it cannot be changed. You can perform an operation that will give a person of one gender the appearance of a person of the other gender, but he still will not turn from a man into a full-fledged woman and from a woman into a full-fledged man."

The head of the DECR MP believes that gender ideology in some of its aspects is an ideology of deception, on which the whole industry of gender change is built, propaganda is organized and a system of discrimination against dissidents is organized, one of the elements of which is the so-called cancel culture when a person is simply removed from the discussion. A similar thing happened with the previous US President Donald Trump, who was deprived of the opportunity to express his opinion in the media and social networks. “What was initially presented as a kind of culture of tolerance is now developing into a very powerful system of discrimination against people who adhere to traditional values, including religious ones,” emphasized Metropolitan Hilarion.

As reported, the European Union declared an "LGBT freedom zone" in response to Poland’s “LGBT-free zone”.
