His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia congratulated His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the 50th anniversary of his monastic tonsure, the Information and Education Department of the UOC reports.
In his congratulations, the head of the OCCLS noted that the Primate of the UOC took monastic vows at the shrine of the great mentor of monasticism – the Monk Sergius of Radonezh, and in his Trinity Monastery he learned the basics of a contemplative, prayerful life, and also gained experience in administrative obedience, being a dean of the St. Trinity Sergius Lavra. “This school in many ways determines those of your personal qualities, thanks to which you steadfastly lead the long-suffering Ukrainian flock to the Light of Christ's Truth,” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav.
He prayerfully wished His Beatitude Onuphry strength, fortitude, and blessed help of God through the prayers and intercession of all the "venerable fathers who shone forth in monastic life" and who are forthcoming to the Throne of the Lord of Glory.
As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Kirill congratulated the Primate of the UOC on the 50th anniversary of monastic tonsure.
