Lawyers of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra appealed to the Prosecutor's Office in connection with the information about the closure by the Pechersk District Police Department of Kyiv of all criminal cases against "activists" who obstruct the services of the UOC near the monastery, offend the feelings of believers, and incite religious hatred, reports the lawyer Dmytro Tsvetov.

"Employees of the Pechersk police Department, neglecting the norms of criminal procedural legislation, actually do not investigate criminal proceedings, and, according to preliminary information, they are closed by the body of pre-trial investigation," said the lawyer. “In this regard, the lawyers filed seven petitions to the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office on the facts of the inactivity of the Pechersk Police Department and the provision of information on the status of pre-trial investigation".

The lawyer expressed hope that "the Prosecutor's Office will fulfil its duties under the Criminal Procedure Code" and take "a lawful decision regarding the illegal actions of the so-called 'activists'".

As reported, lawyer Archpriest Nikita Chekman reported that the Pechersk District Police Department closed more than 20 criminal proceedings against anti-church "activists" previously opened by court order.
