On 19 January 2024, Patriarch Bartholomew, Primate of the Church of Constantinople, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in honour of the Epiphany of the Lord.
The Divine Liturgy took place in the St Basil Church in the Prussian Metropolis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
After the liturgy, Patriarch Bartholomew, together with the Phanariot clergy, walked in a religious procession to the river, where they performed the rite of the Great Consecration of Water.
On the same day one of the most famous hierarchs of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the head of the Archdiocese of the Phanar in the United States Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis), served the liturgy in the Xenophontos Monastery on Mount Athos, after which he performed the rite of the Great Consecration of Water and went to the pier of the monastery – to consecrate the sea water.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the head of the Phanar officiated the Christmas service in the "Russian" community of Istanbul.
