Holos MP Inna Sovsun said in an interview with the YouTube channel channel «Це ніхто не буде дивитись» ("Nobody will watch this") that the USA is very actively interested in the persecution of the UOC and that it is necessary to tell Americans that the UOC is not a church but a part of the law enforcement system of the Russian Federation.

According to Sovsun, she convinces international partners that the UOC is not a religious organisation because "they ask about it".

"The truth is that now in America there is a powerful wing of religious voters. And this is the topic that the Russians downplay: that we now oppress the rights of religious communities and so on," Sovsun complained.

She believes that in this situation it is necessary to act "proactively".

"Not to react, but to actively explain that this Church (the UOC – Ed.) is part of the FSB. We are not banning a religious organization but a law enforcement agency of another state," Sovsun said.

At the same time, she criticised those MPs who urged with regard to the UOC "not to rock the boat and claim" that the ban of the Church will have a bad effect on the situation in the country.

As earlier reported, Sovsun tells Europeans that the UOC is not the Church but a KGB branch.
