The holding in the foreseeable future of a new meeting of the heads of Local Orthodox Churches in the "Amman format" is possible due to the fact that quarantine measures in some countries are gradually weakening due to the increasing number of people who are already immune to coronavirus. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (DECR MP), Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk.
“Someone has been ill, someone has been vaccinated. In these circumstances, the prospect of holding a new meeting of Primates in the foreseeable future seems possible,” said the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church. He believes that the new meeting, like the previous one, will be convened by the Jerusalem Patriarch Theophilos III, as “the Primate of the Jerusalem Church – the Mother of all Churches”. “The Russian Church, for its part, supports the holding of such events aimed at finding ways out of the inter-Orthodox crisis and restoring unity,” resumed Metropolitan Hilarion.
As reported, the Russian Orthodox Church hopes for a meeting in the "Amman format" after the restrictions are lifted.
