Fire breaks out on territory of UOC church in Odesa

On 27 February, there was a fire on the territory of Sts Michael and Luke’s Church in Odesa, reports the Odesa Eparchy.

The Sunday school located on the church premises was engulfed in flames. The church was not damaged, although its entrance was within a meter and a half from the fire's epicentre. The State Emergency Service received the emergency call at 9:32 PM, and the rescuers quickly arrived at the church. At the scene, 25 firefighters and five specialized vehicles were working. The arriving doctors provided assistance to Fr Meletiy, who injured his leg; currently, his condition is stable.

The causes of the fire are being investigated by experts at the moment.

As reported, in the Vyshhorod district of the Kyiv region, St Matrona’s Church of the UOC was burnt down.
