A group of members of the Verkhovna Rada has posed a question to the Minister of Justice regarding the execution of a court decision regarding the dismantling of the Tithe Monastery of the UOC in Kyiv. One of the initiators of the appeal, MP Ihor Guz, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"It's been almost half a year since the court's decision! But the 'small architectural form' still stands in place," the parliamentarian exclaims. "Together with colleagues-deputies (including myself – 22 deputies), we have addressed the Minister of Justice with a question: when will the court decision be executed? When will the cell of the aggressor country in the very center of the Ukrainian capital be dismantled?!"
According to the MP, "the territory near the Ukrainian cult structure – the Tithe Church – must be free from any small architectural forms of the Moscow church."
As reported by the UOJ, on February 15, 2023, the Economic Court of Kyiv satisfied the National Museum of Ukrainian History's lawsuit for the demolition of the Tithe Monastery building. On September 14, the Northern Appeals Economic Court rejected the appeal of the religious community against the decision of the first-instance court. At the same time, the judges partially upheld the monastery's interests, preserving the community's property rights to the temple.
The monastery's lawyer, Oleh Povalyaev, stated that it is impossible to comply with the court verdict, and the monastery plans to go to the appellate court.
