On March 10, 2024, President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Pope Francis's statement that Ukraine should raise the white flag, find courage within itself, and initiate negotiations. The head of the Ukrainian state's address was published on his Telegram channel.
In particular, Zelensky called such action "virtual intermediation, which someone engages in 2,500 km away."
"I thank the Ukrainian chaplains who are currently with the army in the Armed Forces at the forefront, defending lives and humanity, supporting with prayer, conversation, and action. That's what the church is about – with the people," he said.
As the UOJ reported, the Pope called on Ukraine to raise the white flag.
