On 15 March 2024, lawyer Bob Amsterdam spoke about the situation in Ukraine. The video was published on the YouTube channel “Save the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”.
According to the lawyer, he was shocked during his visit to Kyiv by the lawlessness taking place there: "I have witnessed the intense intimidation, violence and theft that has been going on in Ukraine against the majority Church". Amsterdam also stated that "This is a country that has lost its bearings, and you can’t attribute all of it to war."
The attitude of the authorities to the Church was also commented on by American Democratic politician Ron Klink: "What they are trying to do to this thousand-year-old Church is no different than what the Chinese are trying to do to the Catholics, the Tibetans and Uyghurs."
As reported earlier by the UOJ, Archpriest Sergiy Chertilin is illegally held in the SBU detention centre.
