On Sunday, March 17, 2024, the Lenten message of His Beatitude Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland was announced in all temples of the Polish Orthodox Church, according to the website of the Polish Orthodox Church. In it, the Metropolitan spoke about the history and significance of fasting.
The Primate also mentioned the difficult situation of Christianity in our time, including the persecutions in Ukraine:
"In society, there are more and more conflicts, national and religious disagreements. The war continues in the Holy Land, where many people perish. In neighboring Ukraine, which is adjacent to Poland, the ongoing armed conflict has moved onto religious grounds. There has been a division in Orthodoxy, persecutions continue, and holy sites are forcibly seized. Disorder reigns in the country. The peace created by God has lost its original harmony: and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one" (1 John 5:19).
Metropolitan Savva called on Orthodox believers to strengthen their prayers and spiritual purification.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a UOC hierarch met with the Primate of the Polish Church, Metropolitan Savva.
