In response to arrests and intensified persecution of Orthodox believers in Ukraine, including arrests of journalists from the UOJ (Union of Orthodox Journalists, Pershy Kozatsky (First Cossack, and activists of human rights organizations, an initiative group has been established abroad to advocate for their protection.
Currently, the group has its own Facebook account under the name "Persecution in Ukraine", and soon there will be a website presenting all relevant information about "prisoners of conscience" and what is happening in Ukraine concerning human rights and the rights of believers.
Representatives of this initiative group have started consultations with international human rights organizations, commissions, and committees of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, and other state parliaments to find the most effective ways to protect the believers of the UOC, especially journalists, from persecution.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that on March 12, 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted an operation to suppress freedom of speech in the religious sphere of Ukraine.
