The Russian Orthodox Church stated that the Patriarchate of Constantinople does not have the right to reinstate former Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev.

Deputy Chairman of the Church Court of the Moscow City Eparchy of the ROC, Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy (MTA), Archpriest Vladislav Tsypin, believes that Patriarch Bartholomew does not have the relevant authority.

"Such an act on the part of the Patriarch of Constantinople is canonically invalid," said Professor Vladislav Tsypin.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Phanar accepted former ROC protodeacon Andrei Kuraev under its omophorion.
