In an interview with US telejournalist Tucker Carlson, American lawyer of the UOC Bob Amsterdam noted that he supported the bill on providing aid to Ukraine because the believers of the UOC who are fighting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine need it.

"To be transparent, I supported the bill (on providing aid to Ukraine) because it is the parishioners of our Church who are on the front lines, and they need all the help they can get," he said.

The human rights defender emphasized that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is guided by the God's Word in its activities and severed with the Russian Orthodox Church as early as 2022, and is patriotic.

"This is a Church with a thousand-year history, and its priests are dedicated to Christ's teachings and in fact separated themselves from the Russian Orthodox Church in 2022, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation," noted the lawyer.

He also stated that he is aware of certain studies in Ukraine that have shown that the UOC is absolutely "nationalistic and patriotic".

As the UOJ reported, lawyer Bob Amsterdam in an interview with Tucker Carlson said that Ukraine had shut the media.
