MP from the party "For the Future" Ihor Guz stated that he had collected 21 signatures in the Verkhovna Rada to prevent the state from renewing the contract for the use of the cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volynsky Eparchy of the UOC. Ihor Guz wrote about this on his Facebook page.
The complex of buildings includes, besides the Assumption Cathedral, premises of the diocesan administration and the Volodymyr-Volynsky theological seminary.
"21 members of parliament supported my appeal to prevent the extension of the UOC MP's lease of the Assumption Cathedral in Volodymyr! The appeal with the signatures of parliamentarians has been sent to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, and especially to the head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration Yuriy Pohuliayko, who has long been noted for lobbying the interests of the UOC MP in Volyn. So to speak, to remind him that there is a war with Russia in the country, and the MP is the hand of the Russian Church in Ukraine," Huz explained his actions.
According to his information, the lease agreement for the sanctuary and the complex of its buildings expires in just two months – on July 1.
Earlier, as the UOJ wrote, MP Andriy Bokoch demanded from the Volyn Regional State Administration to "expel" the UOC from the cathedral in Volodymyr immediately.
