The Social Department of the UOC supported war veterans whose ages range from 97 to 103 years old. In the Kirovohrad Eparchy, the rector of the Annunciation community congratulated a 99-year-old parishioner of the church, a veteran of the Second World War. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Synodal Department of the UOC and on the Facebook page of the Annunciation Parish.
In the capital, the Social Department of the UOC supported veterans of the Solomiansky Veteran Council. Sweet gifts for combat participants were presented at the beginning of Bright Week, on the day of remembrance of the Great Martyr George the Victorious.
"The age of the veterans ranges from 97 to 103 years old. These are the last remaining participants of the frontline battles, currently residing in Kyiv," noted the Synodal Department of the UOC.
The Chairman of the Veterans' Council, Borys Parafeinykov, mentioned that it is very pleasing that the memory of the exploits of the youth of that time lives on in the hearts of today's youth.
"We believe that the feats of the heroes of our time will resonate in the hearts of Ukrainians and will be passed on to future generations," he said.
The Annunciation community reported that on May 9th, they congratulated their "parishioner, veteran of the Second World War, labor veteran, Nina Varvynska, who is already 99 years old, with the Pascha of Christ and with the Day of Remembrance and Victory over fascism."
"Many years to all our veterans!" the message says.
As reported earlier, the UOC held a religious procession with the Kasperov Icon of the Mother of God around Odesa.
