The head of the press service of the SA SBU in Donetsk and Lugansk regions, Halyna Pryshchepa, stated at a briefing that the abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra Metropolitan Arseniy could have accomplices and now the SBU is collecting evidence on this issue, Ukrinform reports.
“So far, he is the only one mentioned in the criminal proceedings, but the collection of evidence and pre-trial investigation continues. Therefore, it is possible that at the end of the pre-trial investigation, there may be some other associates or accomplices," Pryshchepa said.
She recalled that during a sermon, the abbot informed parishioners about the locations of defence checkpoints around Sviatohirsk, mentioned their exact addresses, pointing towards them. The SBU believes that this information could have been used by the Russian Federation for targeted missile and artillery strikes.
As reported, on April 25, the court ordered Metropolitan Arseniy, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, to be remanded in custody for 60 days without the right to post bail.
