The head of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, Metropolitan Arseniy (Yakovenko), is still in the pre-trial detention centre because the collection of evidence in his case is ongoing and new examinations are being appointed, reports Halyna Pryshchepa, the head of the press service of the SBU Directorate in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, to Ukrinform.

"The investigation within the criminal proceedings is still ongoing. You saw that the court did not agree to release the Metropolitan on bail and extended his detention in the pre-detention centre, so the criminal proceedings continue... The collection of evidence continues, and additional examinations are necessarily being appointed," she said.

Pryshchepa assured that when the case is handed over to the court, she will definitely inform journalists. "And moreover, I will inform you when the verdict is already delivered."

As reported, on 7 June 2024, in the Zhovtnevy District Court of Dnipro, the investigative judge will consider the defence's petition to change the preventive measure for Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatohirsk.
