Odesa Eparchy representatives of UOC congratulate new Bulgarian Patriarch

During the service at the Cathedral of St. Nedelya in Sofia on July 6, 2024, the delegation of the Odesa Eparchy of the UOC congratulated His Holiness Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria on his elevation to the patriarchal throne, according to the website of the BOC.

"Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel received a congratulatory address, a panagia, and an icon of the Mother of God from Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa (UOC) and a representative of the Bulgarian church community in Bolhrad, Ukraine," the message reads.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odesa and Izmail, the delegation included Archpriest Hennady Martynov, the rector of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in the city of Artsyz, and Archdeacon Andriy Palchuk.

"After the service at the Cathedral of St. Nedelya in Sofia, Archdeacon Andriy read a congratulatory address from Metropolitan Agafangel, and Archpriest Hennady presented His Holiness with a panagia depicting the Kasperovskaya Icon of the Mother of God and the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God," the Odesa Eparchy wrote.

It is reported that in response, Patriarch Daniel thanked Metropolitan Agafangel for the congratulations and expressed condolences and support in connection with the trials that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is experiencing today.

As the UOJ previously reported, Metropolitan Augustine of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav took part in the enthronement of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel on June 30 and July 1, 2024, in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, as a representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
