On July 30, a session of the Commission on the Canonization of Saints under the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held to consider the canonization of four ascetics, announced Metropolitan Feodor of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod.
The commission was led by Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavriya, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The participants reviewed materials related to the lives and feats of Hieromartyr Gregory Radetsky, Archimandrite Philaret (Kochubey), Blessed John Pokhodenchyk, and Blessed Olga Florovskaya.
The conclusions of the commission were submitted to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry and the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Romanian Church is canonizing 16 contemporary saints.
