On August 8, during a meeting of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting, council members voted to deny registration to a church media outlet, according to Detector Media.
The media outlet in question was planned for registration by the Sumy Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The regulator denied the registration because the diocese provided its religious organization's charter, which, according to the National Council, does not comply with the requirements of Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations" and thus had lost validity regarding the organization’s name.
As reported by the UOJ, Law No. 5309 on the renaming of religious organizations whose central leadership is based outside Ukraine came into effect in December 2018.
