More than 350 thousand believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took part in the Great Cross Procession, which took place in Kyiv on July 27, 2021, on the occasion of the celebration of the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’, reports the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) of Boryspil and Brovary.

“Today more than 350 thousand cross-walkers took part in the cross procession. These are the first estimates: we have already started the service, half of the service is taking place, and people are still leaving the Vladimir Hill,” said the UOC Chancellor at a briefing at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra broadcast by “Pershy Nezalezhny”.

Metropolitan Anthony stressed that these are preliminary estimates, and, as he believes, the actual figures may turn out to be much higher.

As reported earlier, on July 27 and 28, 2021, the celebrations of the UOC dedicated to the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’ are being held in Kyiv. The celebration was attended by believers from different regions of Ukraine, as well as pilgrims from Montenegro and Georgia. After the prayer service on the Vladimir Hill, the clergy and believers made a procession with the miraculous icons and relics of St. Prince Vladimir to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
