President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he held a meeting with members of the Council of Churches and Religious Organizations and thanked them for supporting the course towards "spiritual independence". He made this announcement in his video address on August 16.
"A draft law has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada; it can actually guarantee that there will be no manipulation of the Ukrainian Church by Moscow. This draft law should work and contribute to the unity of Ukraine, our true spiritual unity," Zelensky stated.
As the UOJ previously reported, the President had earlier urged the Rada to convene and resolve the issue of "spiritual independence".
