The head of the Information and Education Department of the UOC, Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, drew attention to the political nature of the Parliament's adoption of the law banning the UOC. He mentioned this in a comment to the Ukrainian studio of BBC.

"In the end, those who did not understand Jesus Christ crucified Him solely on political charges," said the Metropolitan.

He warned that "society must be very cautious about any manifestations of segregation of Ukrainian citizens into 'right' and 'wrong' ones," given the Soviet past.

As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Clement stated that Law 8371 violates the law on decommunization.
