On August 27th, a fire broke out at the Holy Iveron Monastery, located on Nebesna Sotnia Avenue in Odesa, as reported by Odesa Media. According to eyewitnesses, the fire was caused by a lightning strike that hit the dome of the building. This information was later confirmed by the State Emergency Service (SES) of the Odesa region.

Rescue services stated that their units responded to the fire with an elevated level of difficulty. The challenge in extinguishing the fire was due to the lack of access routes for large fire trucks. Firefighters deployed an articulated ladder, which allowed them to quickly extinguish the fire over an area of 20 square meters and prevent the flames from spreading to the rest of the building.

As previously reported by the UOJ, a fire on church grounds in Dnipro resulted in casualties.
