Patriarch Kirill, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, felt unwell after delivering a speech at Alexander Nevsky Square in St. Petersburg, according to Fontanka. He addressed the faithful after leading a religious procession down Nevsky Prospect and spoke about temptations, warning against Western influences.
Afterward, as reported by local media, the Patriarch began to feel ill. He was supported by aides and escorted to an ambulance.
According to a source from Smolny, cited by the media, the deterioration in the Patriarch's condition was due to the hot weather.
As the UOJ previously reported, a hierarch of the Phanar explained why Bartholomew makes a liturgical mention of the ROC primate during liturgy.
