The Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric, during its session on September 12, 2024, paid special attention to the legislative initiative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – Bill 8371, which is directed against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, according to the liturgija.mk website.

The Synod members stated that the adopted law seeks to "deprive millions of believers attending churches of this Church of their fundamental right to religious affiliation, the practice of their faith, and the conduct of religious services."

"The Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric, bearing witness to the truth of the Gospel, expresses its prayerful support to the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, to the brother bishops, and to the faithful people, praying that the All-Merciful Lord grant them the strength to endure and overcome these trials," the statement reads.

The Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric also "prays for the unity of all Local Orthodox Churches that constitute the Body of Christ."

As the UOJ previously reported, Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid and Macedonia, on behalf of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric, congratulated His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry on his Name Day.
