The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is a daughter of the Constantinople Patriarchate. It was voiced by the leader of the UGCC Sviatoslav Shevchuk at a meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew, which took place in Kyiv on 23 August.

“As a church born in the Baptism of Saint Prince Vladimir, we thank you for the light of the Gospel of Christ, which the mother church gave us here, in Ukraine.

We are gratefully developing and spreading this Gospel,” Sviatoslav Shevchuk addressed the head of Phanar, expressing hope for the development of dialogue and cooperation, the press service of the UGCC reports.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that at a meeting with the AUCCRO on August 23, Patriarch Bartholomew presented the head of the UGCC with a panagia with his signature, while he was presented with a commemorative medal made for the 25th anniversary of the founding of the AUCCRO and a set of patriarchal distinctions (cross, enkolpion and panagia) from the UGCC.
