This morning, September 24, Member of Parliament Artem Dmytruk was detained in London. This was reported by Strana, citing sources close to the MP.

An extradition trial is ongoing, with the request for detention as a preventive measure.

Prior to his arrest, Dmytruk gave a comment to the Independent in which he stated, "Right now there is a political persecution going on against me and my family, against myself for my political views and my support for the UOC."

UOC's American lawyer Robert Amsterdam commented on the situation described in the article on his account in X today.

"At a time when Ukraine needs to build intl support, instead they use diplomatic resources as a cudgel against political opponents who criticize the religious cleansing law," he wrote.

As the UOJ reported earlier, Artem Dmytruk had previously claimed that he was being targeted for imprisonment due to his defense of the UOC.

On August 25, the Prosecutor General charged the MP with suspicion.
