On October 4, Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) of Bancheny shared that his sons were forcibly mobilized by TRC officers. The metropolitan arrived at the TRC building, recorded a video appeal to President Zelensky, and was joined by hundreds of believers who came to support him. According to the KozakTv1 Telegram channel, the metropolitan’s children were released the next day.
"Brothers and sisters, we have joyful news! According to our information, Metropolitan Longin’s children, who were forcibly mobilized in Chernivtsi, have been released! Glory to God, justice has been achieved!" the message said.
According to journalists, the release was made possible only thanks to the courageous and steadfast position of the metropolitan and the reaction of the entire Orthodox community.
"Thanks to the hundreds and thousands of Orthodox Ukrainians who united and stood up for justice and their rights!" they wrote.
As the UOJ previously reported, the metropolitan revealed that his son, abducted by TRC officers, has two young children, and his wife is nine months pregnant, expecting to give birth to their third child soon.
