The Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) in Cherkasy is worried about having a sufficient number of parishioners for the first "service" in the Archangel Michael Cathedral seized from the UOC. To achieve this, all "services" in city churches were canceled on October 19 and moved to the cathedral. Corresponding announcements appeared on the social media pages of churches that had transferred to the jurisdiction of the OCU.

It was revealed that during a rally held by the OCU in the cathedral after the seizure, a new "abbot" was appointed for the cathedral by the leadership of the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU. This position was given to OCU cleric Volodymyr Hladkovskyi, who directly participated in the seizure of the sanctuary.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the Cherkasy Eparchy demands the arrest of those responsible for the cathedral’s seizure.
