The Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, has been attending services with the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). This was revealed by the head of the Directorate’s Military Chaplaincy Service, Kostiantyn Kholodov, as reported by TSN.
An OCU representative stated that Budanov is a devout believer actively involved in church life: “Budanov attends services with his wife. He doesn’t just stand and watch; he fully participates, prays, confesses, and takes communion. Few military leaders today are so engaged with the church,” Kholodov shared.
When asked about Budanov’s prayers, the chaplain responded, “He prays for the victory of the Ukrainian people over their enemies.”
Previously, it was reported that Marianna, the wife of Kyrylo Budanov, was a member of the Intercession Monastery community in Holosiivska Desert in Kyiv.
As reported by the UOJ, Ukraine’s Chief Rabbi Moshe Reuven Azman also blessed Kyrylo Budanov, calling him a “legendary figure.”
