The ROC will carefully study numerous requests of the clergy of the Alexandrian Orthodox Church on being accepted under the omophorion of the Moscow Patriarchate. This is stated in the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, adopted following the meeting on September 23-24, 2021, according to Patriarchia.ru.
The members of the Synod deplored the fact that the Primate of the Alexandrian Patriarchate concelebrated with the head of the schismatic OCU, "which further deepens the split between our Churches."
"In light of the above and in view of numerous appeals of the clergy of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus with a request to accept them under the omophorion of the Moscow Patriarchate, instruct His Grace Archbishop Leonid of Vladikavkaz and Alan to thoroughly examine the appeals received by the Synod," says the decision of the Synod.
The Synod relieved Archbishop Leonid of the administration of the diocese and appointed him the Patriarch’s vicar with the title of Klinsky and with a location in Moscow.
Let us recall that the meeting of the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church was held in Moscow on September 23-24 under the chairmanship of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus.
The UOJ wrote that the ROC Synod condemned the visit of the head of Phanar to Ukraine and called it a gross violation of the canons. In addition, it stated that Patriarch Bartholomew has no right to call himself the leader of Orthodoxy.
