Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra’s lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, recorded a video statement following the latest session at the Northern Economic Court of Appeals on the eviction of Ukrainian Orthodox Church monks from the monastery. The session considered a claim filed by the Reserve concerning the eviction of the monastery’s brethren.

"One of the judges was challenged, as we have information indicating she has repeatedly ruled against the UOC. To avoid any doubt regarding impartiality, the monastery’s side requested her recusal." During the review of the challenge, the judge voluntarily recused herself, and the court approved this decision.

The hearing will continue, and the Lavra’s lawyer urged believers to pray for a just outcome.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the lawyer had earlier claimed the judge was biased in the Lavra monks’ eviction case.
