The head of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, Vladimir Legoyda, said in his telegram channel that involving the militants of the Right Sector and other Ukrainian nationalist organizations in the forceful seizure of the UOC churches, the OCU put itself on a par with nationalist organizations.
“The fact that neither the ‘clergy’ nor the ‘bishops’ of the so-called OCU does not hesitate to use the militants of the ‘Right Sector’ and other Ukrainian nationalist organizations to seize temples of the Ukrainian Church by force (at least, no condemnation of the actions of the nationalists on their part is heard), indicates that the OCU considers it regular or at least acceptable. This means that they put their structure on a par with such militant organizations of nationalists,” said Vladimir Legoyda.
According to the spokesman of the ROC, there is little hope in this respect to be assisted by international organizations, which should make such cases public.
“There is still hope for international human rights organizations, whose job it is to highlight such incidents, make them public and rigidly demand that law enforcement agencies and authorities rectify the situation. Yet, unfortunately, as practice shows, their contribution is meagre, if not illusory,” he added.
As the UOJ previously reported, the Right Sector said the time had come for more strikes on the Moscow Church.
