Robert Amsterdam, an international lawyer representing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), has once again called on Ukrainian authorities to end the persecution of Orthodox Christians and human rights advocates. In a post on the social media platform X, the lawyer compared the actions of security forces pressuring the UOC to the German Democratic Republic’s Stasi police.
"President Zelensky should repeal his UOC ban and stop sanctioning religious and political opponents! As well Ukraine should stop blackmailing those who speak the truth about its feared stasi like SBU!!" Amsterdam declared.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the lawyer has previously noted that the United States did not ban Islam after the terrorist attacks, whereas Ukraine is banning the UOC.
