The DECR MP Chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk, said on the Russia 24 TV channel that Patriarch Bartholomew's plans are financed by the Greek community in the United States and supported by the American administration.
“There is an established Greek Diaspora in America, which is the flock of the Patriarch of Constantinople, and which financially supports or, in fact, maintains the Patriarchate of Constantinople. In addition, the American administration has been providing political support to Phanar for many years, including those ambitious plans that are being nurtured and partially implemented by the Patriarchate of Constantinople,” said Metropolitan Hilarion.
As the UOJ previously reported, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, secretary of the DECR MP for inter-Orthodox relations, does not exclude an increase in the persecution of the UOC and new seizures of churches by schismatics from the OCU as a result of the visit of the head of Phanar to the United States.
