On 10 December 2024, militants from the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham looted an Orthodox church in Damascus, reports the 301intl Telegram channel.

Members of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group broke into the treasury and the donation box at St. George’s Orthodox Church in Damascus.

The incident occurred during a service, which was interrupted by the actions of the radicals.

According to local sources, the priest was ordered to immediately leave the church and return home. The believers were also forced to leave the church.

As previously reported, Cardinal Mario Zenari, the Apostolic Nuncio to Syria, stated that Syrian militants who seized power in Syria promised to respect Christians and other religious denominations.
