Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou of the Church of Cyprus stated in an interview with Romanian priest Ciprian Mega that Orthodox Christians are united not by Patriarch Kirill or Patriarch Bartholomew, but by the Divine Liturgy.

The interview was published in Russian on the YouTube channel Ομιλίες Μητροπολίτου Μόρφου on December 29, though the description notes that the metropolitan gave the interview on August 8, 2024.

"We all need to understand – first and foremost the Russians, who are the most numerous, and the Greeks, Romanians, Serbs, Bulgarians, and wherever Orthodoxy exists – that what unites us is not Patriarch Kirill, or Bartholomew, or Daniel. It is the Orthodox Divine Liturgy," stated Metropolitan Neophytos.

He also highlighted the importance of the unity of faith, which "we often forget." "How can I partake of Communion when there is no unity of faith? Can you go and commune now with a papal priest? No. Why? Because there is no unity of faith," the Cypriot hierarch explained.

Earlier, the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported that, according to Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry is canonical, while Epifaniy is not.
