The Head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Hryhoriy Nedopad, speaking from the pulpit of the Lutsk cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), stated that Ukraine, in addition to its war with Russia, is also engaged in a "war over dates." According to him, December 25 is battling January 7. A video of his sermon was published on the YouTube channel of the Volyn Diocese of the OCU.
Nedopad expressed gratitude to "Metropolitan" Mykhailo Zinkevych for "instilling a love for Christmas on December 25, which has long been celebrated by Orthodox Ukraine." He argued that 100 years ago, the Bolsheviks "forced us to celebrate Christmas on January 7."
"But starting from 2017 or 2018, we gradually reached the point where Christmas is officially celebrated on December 25 at the state level," the head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration said.
In his view, this is a "victory."
"I am convinced that our victory will come not only on the battlefields but also in spiritual life. And the enemy must disappear, just like that Russia, which has prevented us from living and developing for many millennia." However, Nedopad did not specify who he meant by "the enemy that must disappear."
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to President Zelensky, all Ukrainians now celebrate Christmas on December 25.
