Analyst: Extreme cynicism for govt to destroy the Church and call to pray

On his Telegram channel, political analyst and historian Kostiantyn Bondarenko sarcastically commented on the initiative by MPs, particularly David Arakhamia, to submit a draft law to the Rada establishing a new holiday – National Prayer Day, to be observed annually on February 24.

In the explanatory note to the draft law, Arakhamia stated that history provides numerous examples of collective prayer leading to pivotal changes in the destinies of nations. Bondarenko responded:

"We already have January 22 – Day of Unity. There's February 16 – Day of Unity. Now we’ll have a Day of Prayer. Next, we should introduce a Day of Justice, a Day of Power, a Day of Gratitude to Heaven for the President, a Day of Valor, a Day of Humility, and so on. By this logic, a call to prayer from the 'Servants of the People', who have destroyed the Church, is extreme cynicism. The impact of such a prayer is highly questionable," Bondarenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

As the UOJ reported earlier, the draft law has not yet received sufficient support in the Verkhovna Rada due to the lack of necessary votes, according to MP Iryna Konstankevych.
